Fixed on God

Part IV

TEN PROMISES

I want to tell you of ten magnificent promises from scripture. Ten things God will do for those who have made the choice to live the spiritual life in a consistent manner, to seek God's face and ever be focused on Christ. God says HE WIIL DO the following:

God says, "I WILL...

  • give you strong support, 2 Chr. 16:9
  • accomplish what concerns you, Ps. 138.8
  • be favorably disposed towards you, Ezra 8:22, Ex. 14:13
  • fight your battles, 2 Chr. 20:15
  • provide and bring about a solution, Ps. 37:5
  • grant you your hearts desires, Ps. 37:4
  • withhold no good thing from you, Ps. 84:11
  • feed you with the finest, Ps. 81:16, Ps. 147:14
  • make your paths straight, Pro. 3:6
  • fill your treasuries, Pro. 9:21

I am sure you can find many more instances what God will do for those whose hearts are completely His. But these ten promises give a thorough overview of God's desire to provide for our well-being. Such promises should ever keep a firm foundation under our feet when the winds and storms of life come beating upon our hearts...and they will. But you have no need to fear. Remember the reliance/transfer principle. God will see you through any and all difficulties when you place your trust and reliance upon Him. He even turns our curses into blessings, Dt. 23:5.

He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD,
Ps. 112:7

It is important we be careful of pride creeping in. Too often we claim God's promises but dictate to God how we want things done. And if not careful, we will use God's promises as some sort of "rubber stamp" to get what we want. Again, we must let God be God in our lives and allow Him to do what He knows is best for us. God will not be dictated to, which I feel so many attempt to do in Charismatic/fundamental circles. And frankly, we have all been guilty of attempting to use God's Word for our agenda regardless of our affiliation. It is the nature of sin that lives within our flesh.

Can anyone deny the inestimable value of knowing Christ Jesus? His wisdom is far beyond the riches of gold, silver and precious stones. If we so diligently seek the riches of this earth, how much more shall we seek God's face? How much more should our passions be on fire for the living God, our Creator and Heavenly Father? God wants to be God in our lives. He has plans for us...plans for our "future, welfare, and hope", Jer. 29:11. And such plans will be realized if we "fix upon" God. As we fix upon God, He transforms our Word-based desires into reality.

Fix your hope on the certainty of God,
who richly supples us with all things to enjoy, 1 Tim. 6:17

God wants to be God in our lives. He does not want you and I to have unnecessary concern for material, temporal things. He knows our needs and will provide them all, Mt. 6:33. But He also does not want us to be possessed with our possessions. The more we have the more we seem to work towards keeping it. No, God wants our focus and attention...not on this world, but the world to come. This is where the action is. We are eternal beings and you and I have a destiny. God wants us to prepare. And the choices we make now have eternal consequences. These are discussed in THE POWER SPHERES. But know this now. We will live forever, but where and how will be determined by our choices.
