The Spirit-filled,
Sphere of Faith Christian
by Bob Case
REBORN:
The spiritual, reborn (Jn. 3:3,5) Christian, is he who numbers
among the few (Mt. 7:14, 22:14), and will inherit the kingdom
of God (Jn. 3:3,5), because he has from a godly grief (2 Cor.
7: 10), repented (Lk. 13:5, Acts 3:19), bearing the fruits of
repentance (Lk. 3:8a). He has turned to God (Acts 26:20b) from
his acts of immorality, fornication, adultery, thievery, lying,
envy, drunkenness, party spirit, dissension, carousing, anger,
impurity (Gal. 5:19-21), being once foolish, disobedient, led
astray, a slave to various passions and pleasures, passing his
days in malice and envy, hated by men and hating one another
(Titus 3:3), and having evil thoughts, judging others wrong but
self right, Mt. 7:1-5, being wicked, murderous and proud; having
evil things which come from within, which defiled him (Mt.. 7:20-23).
SUBMITTED:
He has submitted, surrendered himself to God (Rm. 10:3b, James
4:7), doing the will of God (Mt. 7:2 1), believing the Gospel,
(he who obeys Christ, Mk. 1: 15b, Jn. 3:36). He does not listen
to one who preaches another Jesus, or a different spirit, or
a different gospel , which would lead him astray from the simplicity
and purity of devotion to Christ (2 Cor. 11: 3-4). Nor has he
claimed to be of the denomination of Paul, Apollos, nor Peter,
but of Christ, who was crucified (1 Cor. 1: 12). He has been
baptized by the Holy Spirit (Acts. 2:19, 38,41), being filled
by the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4a), living his life according to
the scriptures (1 Cor. 4:6b), not adding or subtracting from
the word Dt. 4:2), being careful to obey the commandments (Dt.
12:32, Lk 11:28), not going too far nor going on ahead and beyond
the whole counsel of God (2 Jn. 9, Acts 20:27), for this shows
his love for Christ (Jn. 14:15, 1 Jn. 5:3).
He does not listen to false teachers, who disguise themselves
as servants of righteousness (2 Cor.11: 13a- 15) claiming that
the word of God is full of contradictions and myths (2 Tim. 4:4),
and teaching people what they want to hear, instead of what they
ought to hear, as to avoid being unpopular (2 Tim. 3:16a) and
that "prophecy of Scripture is not a matter of one's
own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of
human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God"
(2 Peter 1:20-21), knowing that he has no need for any one to
teach him, for the anointing of the Holy Spirit teaches him about
everything (1 Jn. 2:26-27). For the Holy Spirit makes His words
known to him (Pr. 1:23), and His private and intimate counsel
is with him (Pr. 3:32), and that the secret of the Lord is for
he who fears God, who makes him know His covenant and promises
(Ps. 25:14).
CHILD OF GOD:
He, the new born Christian, who is spiritually re-bom, was once
a slave to sin (Rm. 6:20), as all of humanity, from which none
does good, not even one (Rm. 3:12). He was once held captive
by the devil himself, to do his will (2 Tim.2:26), a very child
of the devil (1 Jn. 3: 10), the devil being his former father
(Jn. 8:44), is now in Christ, a new creation having the old passed
away, beholding the new (2 Cor. 5:17).
He, as a servant of Christ (Eph. 6:6b), is no longer plundered,
despoiled, trapped in caves, hidden in prisons, and a prey of
Satan, being his spoil. He is freed from Satan's tyranny and
enslaved to God (Rm. 6:22a), doing the will of God from his heart
(Eph. 6:6b), having the mind of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16b), which
has been transformed by the renewal of his mind to prove what
is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect (Rm.
12:2),,a true child of God, an adopted son, whose spirit crys
out, "Abba, Father", witnessed by the Spirit
Himself, being an heir of God, and a fellow heir with Christ
(Rm. 8:15-17).
TAKING DELIGHT IN GOD:
He does right, as opposed to the child of Satan, who does not
do right (1 Jn.3: 1 0); living his life each day working out
his salvation with fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), desiring
to please God (2 Cor. 5:9), taking delight to do His will (Ps.
40:8) and accomplish God's work (Jn. 4:34), committing his way
to the Lord (Ps. 37:5), knowing that he is no longer his own,
for he has been bought with a price (1 Cor. 6:19b-20), rejoicing
always, praying constantly, giving thanks in all circumstances
(1 Th. 5:16-18), watching and waiting for his Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ (Mk. 13:33,37, Ps. 27:14), as though His coming
is near (Rev. 22:12a), as though "the time is near"
(Rev. 1: 3b, 22: 10), praising God for His mighty deeds and His
exceeding greatness. Praise the Lord (Ps. 150:2, 6b)!
HIS BENEFITS AND REWARDS:
His iniquities are pardoned, sins forgiven, his life is redeemed
from that which would enslave him, he is crowned with lovingkindness
and compassion, his years are satisfied with good things, and
his youth is renewed like the eagle (Ps. 103:1-5). And if he
asks anything in accordance to God's will, He hears us. And if
he knows that God hears him in whatever he asks, he knows that
he has the requests which he has asked from him. And at his final
breath, he shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever (Ps.
23:6)!
